Stainless steels are very resistant to aqueous corrosion, which helps to prevent potential membrane-scaling ions from polluting the process. This makes them ideal for the requirements of RO. In some waterways, particularly those that include chlorides, some stainless steels are sadly susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion.
